Shikia's wish comes true thanks to make a wish

The 10-year-old Primrose Sands schoolgirl is off to Phoenix, Arizona, to see her idol, singer Miley Cyrus.

Shikia’s sister Chelsea, 8, mum Irene and grandmother Elaine will fly out of Hobart on Wednesday for a trip of a lifetime, thanks to Make A Wish.

Shikia has lived with a brain tumour for most of her life and has undergone intensive chemotherapy to keep the tumour at bay.

Her biggest wish has been to see Miley Cyrus.

Mrs Reid describes Shikia as a dreamer, a bubbly, creative girl who loves her music.

“She loves everything about Miley, her fashion and her songs,” she said.

Shikia’s favourite Miley song is The Climb.

“I’m very excited,” Shikia said. “I’m going to see the Grand Canyon and I’m going to a formal gala with Miley.

Mrs Reid said she became emotional when she thought of people’s generosity with the Make A Wish gift.

The Reids ran with thousands in the Cancer Council’s Relay for Life at the Domain athletics centre yesterday.

Mrs Reid said the family lived as normal a life as possible with their two daughters.
