While the rest of the world was paying attention to Angelina Jolie’s sexy right leg at the Oscars (and rushing to follow its inevitable Twitter feed), we were poring over images from Vanity Fair‘s annual Oscar bash and couldn’t stop looking at Miley Cyrus. She’s always been cute, from her Hannah Montana days on, but this was one of those put-her-on-the-beauty map moments. WOW. She nailed it! This was a whole new Miley and we love it. We were fixated on how glamorous and grown up the 19-year-old looked.
Her hair was a huge part of the equation: The curly bob was elegant but not fussy. The makeup was sophisticated too, with the red lips the perfect shade, and we loved her thick eyebrows and classic cat-eye shadow. But she kept it real—and age-appropriate—with her teal nail polish, a particular favorite of Allure editors. And in a strange twist, she managed to look this calm and collected even though just hours before the event, she received death threats via Twitter. She retained her composure and called on Twitter to be more proactive about monitoring such threats. Well played all around, Miley.
